Trying to get my 2020 Zongshen RX3 dialed in but the valve clearance specs I keep hearing are all over the place. Some say it's got the NC250 but I'd rather not guess. Cold starts are rough. Does anybody know the actual engine and the right numbers?

Yup, it's the NC250 for sure on the RX3.

Valve clearance cold should be around 0.08mm for both intake and exhaust. CSC recommends it and it's worked fine on mine.

I ran mine a bit tighter before and cold starts were sooo frequent. Do the check every few thousand miles too, it drifts more than you'd think. Good luck!

Thanks for confirming that NC250 and those numbers! It is good to hear from someone who has wrestled with their own RX3. Knowing that tighter clearance made your cold starts so frequent is a real lightbulb moment for me.

I worked on one a couple of weeks ago and considering how big of a pain in the ass the entire thing was I really wanted to forget the whole experience, but unfortunately I can't and I still remember those damn numbers. 0.06mm on the intake, 0.08mm on the exaust.

Thanks for chiming in, even if the RX3 left a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. The intake number you mentioned is tighter than what CSC recommends, so I'm now wondering if the bike you worked on had similar cold start issues or if it ran smoother with that setup. I've already had my share of rough mornings with mine, so I'm leaning toward the wider spec unless there's a good reason to go tighter. Planning to check mine again next weekend when I've got time to pull the plastics and get in there properly.
