GS 250 starting quirk you good with it?

So, I just stumbled upon this little trick with the GS 250 apparently, it won't start unless the stand is raised and the clutch is squeezed. Who knew, right? I'm curious, how do you all feel about this feature? Is it something that you're cool with, or does it drive you a little nuts like it did for me? Would love to hear your thoughts

@iron|zongster well, that stand up and clutch in combo is super common on a lot of bikes, especially beginnerfriendly ones like the GS 250
It's basically a safety feature to prevent you from accidentally starting it in gear and lurching forward, or trying to ride off with the kickstand down
Once you get used to it, it just becomes second nature. I'm totally cool with it

Those safety lockouts feel more like manufacturer babysitting than real protection. If you know how to ride, having to squeeze the clutch with the stand up just to start the bike gets old fast

I’m with you @iron|zongster. For me it’s actually one of those things that feels annoying until it saves you once and then you kinda forgive it. After a few weeks, it’s muscle memory, but yeah it can catch you off guard if you’re not expecting it.

That’s pretty common on bikes with safety interlocks. It’s annoying at first but it’s there to prevent exactly the kind of accidental start or launch that can happen with the stand down or clutch out. Most riders get used to it pretty quick.
