I'm working on my buddy's 2020 Zongshen ZS250GS and we're stuck figuring out the tappet wrench size. We've got an 8mm and 10mm but they're both awkward to fit. Did anyone manage this without removing the engine?

tight Zongshen valve jobs huh? yeah, been there before, you need to ditch the standard wrenches if they're too thick
You usually need a super thin, lowprofile tappet wrench for those. Some motorcycle specific tool kits come with them, often a combo 8mm/9mm
Also, try rotating the engine to TDC for the cylinder you're working on; sometimes that shifts the valve springs just enough to give you a hair more room to get the wrench in without pulling the engine

We couldn't locate a special thin wrench locally so we carefully ground down our own tool to make it fit. Rotating the engine to top dead center also helped create enough room. Now that we finally have access, do you know the proper valve clearance specs for this engine?
